Evolution Slows Down Due to Competition?

Except when it doesn’t, right? Well, since evolution can show anything and everything, there’s a new study that shows that as the number of competitors increases, evolution slows down. Of course, this is the exact opposite of the claim that is also made that increased competition forces arms races which speeds up evolution. But, hey, when you have an unscientific worldview that purports to explain all, then little bouts of cognitive dissonance like this don’t phase you.
