Hitchens vs. Richards

Recently, at Stanford, Christopher Hitchens debated Jay Richards about intelligent design.  If the linked article is any indication of how it went, I have to say that I’m not at all impressed by Hitchens.  Actually, I’m reading his book God is not Great now and I will post a review of it when I’m done.  So far, however, I’m not impressed.  I’ve also seen him in a couple of interviews and debates, and he generally comes off as smart, but he’s completely incapable of answering simple questions, except by mocking the other person, which does not an argument make.  I really can’t understand why materialists hold him in such high regard.

Wait, actually I can, since materialists generally also aspire to be able to mock people, since they can’t support their own ideas, and mocking is all they have.
